Birthday Parties
Want to have a party outside, finding out about nature whilst running around having fun in the fresh air?
Mud Pies offers children aged between two and ten a great time outside, at any time of year, to celebrate their birthday with things to find, collect and make and great party food.
When?
10am to 12 noon or 2 to 4pm on Saturday or Sundays.
Where?
At Countesswells Wood in Aberdeen, Dunnottar Woods in Stonehaven or Scolty Woods in Banchory.
What happens at a party?
The Mud Pies’ leader meets your group in the wood’s car park and after a welcome we all make our way around the forest, looking for interesting things that the children are encouraged to collect.
Further into the wood we stop at “camp” (a bright blue tarpaulin decorated with fab party bunting) where we look at our finds, make things and have party food. The remaining time is spent playing and exploring.
Children can take part in one of the following activities:
- teddy bear's picnic: bring along a favourite bear and learn how to make a mini den for them
- pet rocks: choose a special stone and turn it into a friend to take home
- blobsters: create a work of natural art to take home from a small ball of clay
- toasted marshmallows: learn how to make a fire from sticks and wood on which to toast marshmallows
What does Mud Pies provide?
Mud Pies provides all materials for the activity as well as the tarpaulin, bunting, portable sit mats and food if applicable.
How much does it cost?
That depends on how you would like to organise the food.
If Mud Pies provides the food and drinks for you:
£225 base fee (equivalent to 15 children) - £15 per additional child.
Food is supplied by The Bread Maker, Aberdeen’s social firm and artisan bakery. It consists of a mini margherita pizza, mini muffin (blueberry, raisin and oatmeal, toffee or chocolate) and traybake (tiffin, flapjack, millionaire's shortbread or plain shortbread) as well as drinks (water, orange juice, Ribena and/or hot chocolate).
If you would like to provide the food yourself:
£150 base fee (equivalent to 15 children) - £10 per additional child.
How do I book?
Firstly, contact Mandy Tulloch on M: 07929 465680 or E: info@mudpieadventures.co.uk to arrange a date and discuss details. The party booking is confirmed once payment is made.
What do we bring?
A birthday cake and party bags if applicable. Mud Pies also recommends suitable clothing for everyone - wellies in particular and waterproofs if it's been or is due to be wet.
What about party bags?
Mud Pies supplies a wood cookie with ribbon and fruit lolly in a stripey paper bag for each child as standard. Children often make something to take home too. You could also visit Scallywags for some further fun party bag items!
What happens if the weather is bad?
Mud Pies is used to a bit of rain so the party will go ahead unless the weather is deemed too miserable, in which case the party will be either re-scheduled or refunded.
Can I leave my child in the care of Mud Pies at the party?
No. We need one adult for every five children. There will be one Mud Pies leader present who will organise the activities. The host family is responsible at all times for the attending children’s safety.
Are the activities completely safe?
Every reasonable care is taken to ensure that the venues and activity content are completely safe for those participating. Mud Pies encourages children, if they feel safe, to explore so minor bumps and scrapes may occur occasionally. Parents/carers are responsible at all times for their child’s safety.
Can younger siblings stay?
Yes of course – woods are big places!
What about toilets?
A potette travel potty is available for use, although the most environmentally friendly way to go is to use a tree!
How green are these parties?
As green as we can be. Amongst others, there's minimal packaging, crockery is reusable and local businesses are used as often as possible.
